Silver Wave Awards
The consistent high quality of Silver Wave recordings is well documented by the numerous awards our artists have received throughout our history.
Starting with the GRAMMY's, the most widely recognized award in the
music industry, we have four Grammy Winning recordings out of nine
nominations. Mary Youngblood is a two-time Grammy Winner in both 2003
and 2007, "Sacred Ground: A Tribute to Mother Earth" including Joanne
Shenandoah and Robert Mirabal won a Grammy in 2006, and Johnny
Whitehorse (aka Robert Mirabal) has won a Grammy in 2008. Joanne
Shenandoah and Peter Kater have each earned two Grammy nominations
for Silver Wave recordings, and Mary Youngblood had a third
nomination in 2005.
The Native American Music Awards (NAMMY) were established in 1997 to honor many categories of Native music. Silver Wave artists have been at the top of the winners list with Joanne Shenandoah winning 10 NAMMY’s over the years, more than any other artist. Robert Mirabal has twice been Artist of the Year, and Mary Youngblood has 5 NAMMY’s, proving Silver Wave artists are truly the best in the genre. In 2007 Joanne Shenandoah was honored with a Nammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
The INDIE Awards are presented by the Association For Independent Music (AFIM) and are known as the Grammy’s of independent record labels. Silver Wave has won 5 INDIE awards, along with many nominations, showing our strength as a leader among independent record labels.
