ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bob Fowler contributes his original style on fretless and fretted electric bass, piano, synthesizers, computer sequencing, programming and vocals. Stephen Branca performs on acoustic and electric guitars, synth-guitar and keyboards. Three Flights Up was recorded and produced at their new studio, Seasong Recording Studio II, their multi-track facility in New Jersey. Fowler and Branca have been playing and writing music together for more than fifteen years. They met in a band specifically put together to perform in Las Vegas. Fowler would occasionally play tapes of original material for the group to get feedback, and after a few months, Branca took him aside to consider the idea of becoming musical partners. They built a studio and began composing and recording together. "It's funny, sometimes we look back and realize that our destiny was probably 'etched in stone'," says Fowler. Their collaboration paid off early in their careers with the release of their first published song on MCA Records. The composition, I Want Someone Who Really Will Love Me, a dance/vocal, appeared on Tim Eyerman's progressive jazz recording, East Coast Offering. Soon afterwards, their second song was released for Michael Pedicin Jr.'s album, City Song. It was entitled Would You Like To, a jazz instrumental that clearly set the tone for what was to develop. The duo's first Silver Wave release, The Face on Cydonia, received extensive airplay all over the country and went Top 10 on all of the national "new adult contemporary" styled radio charts. Both Bob and Steve were very happy and pleasantly surprised at the response to the first disc. Many people went out of their way to express their appreciation to the artists for their music. Bob said that people used the music for their own creativity, be it painting, poetry or their own music. "And inspiring people to create may be the greatest gift any artist could hope to receive," says Fowler. The number of proficient duos who have found success in contemporary music is considerable, and Silver Wave's Fowler and Branca take their place high in the ranks. -Heartbeats Fowler and Branca's work has a cohesion of elevated mood and lyrical poignancy that redefines and advances the genre... -Heaven Bone ...intelligent, well-crafted, original music. -The New Times |
