ABOUT THE ARTIST

Peter Kater (Pianist, Composer, Producer) and R. Carlos Nakai (Flutist, Percussionist, Composer, Vocalist) have sold 600,000+ copies of their first six musical collaborations. Four of these albums have reached the Top 15 in Billboard's New Age chart. Kater & Nakai are often credited as the original duo who helped propel the popularity of the 'Contemporary Native American' music genre, by melding the styles and sounds of contemporary European with traditional Native American instruments.

"Together they enter contemplative chambers with flutes calling out into the darkness and piano sounding like rain in slow motion." -CD Review

Kater & Nakai first crossed paths in the late eighties, as Nakai was garnering accolades as the world's premier Native performer. Kater was so inspired by Nakai's music that he asked him to record a track, 'Shaman's Call,' for Kater's 1989 release "Homage." The following year, in 1990, Kater asked Nakai to collaborate again, this time on an entire album which became "Natives."

"Through Windows & Walls," is their first recording of all new material in five years. It still has the unmistakable Kater/Nakai sound, but is distinctive from their previous collaborations by including more percussion and voice, Kater's finest production work to date, and HDCD mastering.

"Rich, melodic, quietly intuitive ... the mood of their music is exploratory yet contemplative." -Billboard
