| ABOUT THE ARTIST
Track to Bumbliwa is a musical journey across the continent of Australia. Two musicians carrying didjeridus and digital recording equipment sought out the places that have inspired the music and ceremony of the Australian Aboriginals for 40,000 years. Their musical exploration of the oldest continent on Earth took them from the caves of the red central to the black soil country of the north and the rain forests of teh east coast. This recording captures the sounds of Australia and frames them in musical influences from around the globe, creating a unique and animated world music dialog. Didjeridu is the traditional wind instrument of Aboriginal Australia made from tree limbs hollowed by the activity of white ants and termites. It is primitive in the sense of being a non-manufactured "found instrument", yet sublime in its tonal colors and expressiveness. Didjeridu is a unique, distinctive, and hauntingly familiar voice that resonates within our bodies speaking the wisdom, visions, and dreams of the world's oldest indigenous culture. Tom Wasinger is a composer and multi-instrumentalist acclaimed for his work with resonating stones on his album Rock Music. His home is in Boulder, Colorado. Jim Harvey is a classically trained orchestral musician. He began playing didjeridu in 1985. He is a performer and lecturer of ritual, music, theater and sacred art. His home is in Byron Bay, Australia. "...transports the listener into a primal world of awe and magic, inviting us into the spiritual wonderland of the Dreamtime." -Backroads |
