Pianist Peter Kater and Native American Flutist R. Carlos Nakai are often credited as the original duo who helped propel the popularity of Contemporary Native American Music, by melding the styles and sounds of western music with traditional Native American instruments.
Kater & Nakai each started out as solo artists with a good amount of success. When they began collaborating with their first recordings, “Natives” and “Migration” their popularity soared to new heights.
